Manchester United are close to completing a £15 million deal for Daniel James of Swansea City, according to multiple sources.
The 21-year-old is primarily a winger, capable of operating on both attacking flanks, but also playing centrally, behind a striker. His main qualities are pace and tricky feet, but even though his professional career started back in 2016/17, he only made his mark this season with 24 appearances and three goals for the Swans.
United have had a hugely disappointing season. Even though reaching the quarterfinals of the Champions League and crashing out at the hands of Barcelona shouldn t draw too much criticism, failing to qualify for the competition next season is certain to cost them in the long run, in ways other than just financially.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer promised that the club would be making smart signings from now on, as opposed to the recent few years which saw them spend vast sums on the transfers of Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, and the wages of Alexis Sanchez. In that aspect, signing James would certainly seem smart.
