Lee Bowyer blames ‘scary’ boardroom chaos for Charlton’s relegation

Lee Bowyer has blamed brutal “corner cutting” and “scary” boardroom chaos for Charlton Athletic’s relegation from the Championship after a single season back in the second tier.

“The stuff that’s been going on, it’s just crazy, it’s not normal,” Charlton’s manager told TalkSport in the wake of the club’s 4-0 fate-sealing defeat at Leeds United on Wednesday. “There’s a hell of a lot of things I’ve not been happy with. I’ve never felt so low in my life.

FIFA gives thumbs-up to 2014 stadium

FIFA have been given assurances that the Arena Corinthians will be completed in time to host matches at the 2014 World Cup.

The venue has come under scrutiny due to the drawn-out process behind its construction which began in May 2011 and the world football governing body scheduled an emergency meeting with Corinthians to address the standoff.

There was a risk that the fixtures scheduled to take place at the stadium, including next summer s opening match, could be switched to another city if FIFA felt the December 2013 handover deadline would not be met, but talks between the two parties have made progress.

We are very satisfied with the meeting and with the fact that we could talk face to face. Sao Paulo will be an example for other cities to deliver the stadiu…

Pjanic extends Juventus contract to 2023

Miralem Pjanic has signed a new five-year contract to commit his future to Juventus, ending speculation over the midfielder s future at the club.

Pjanic joined Juve from fellow Serie A rivals Roma in 2016 and has won league and cup doubles in each of his two seasons in Turin.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina international was the only central midfielder in Serie A with at least five goals and five assists last term.

Barcelona, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain were all rumoured to be interested in Pjanic, while Pep Guardiola denied reports Premier League champions Manchester City were keen on signing the player.

And Juve confirmed on Tuesday that the 28-year-old has put pen to paper on a new long-term deal that will keep him at the club until 2023.

Former England winger Darren Anderton believes the Three Lions would have won the Euros if Pep Guardiola had been in charge.

Following England s 2-1 defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final, the Football Association (FA) announced on Tuesday that Gareth Southgate had stepped down as manager.

Since then, a host of names have been linked with the vacant job, with Eddie Howe and Graham Potter among the reported frontrunners.

Detroit Lions Odds, Predictions, and Betting Preview 2022: Detroit's Pride Grows in Year Two of Rebuild

For a team that won only three games last season, the Detroit Lions were one of the best stories of 2021 — doubly so if you rode the Lions to an 11-6 ATS finish.

Detroit had the luxury of playing with house money, as expectations were very low for Dan Campbell’s rah-rah style of coaching and a franchise in the post-Stafford era. That also meant plenty of forgiveness from the oddsmakers week to week. Detroit was a dog of +7 or higher in 11 of its 17 games.

Now, the Lions’ NFL odds are calling for a stark improvement with a win total of 6.5. Detroit may have caught some foes with their guard down in 2021 but no one is taking the Lions lightly this year, including the betting public.
