Monaco 3-0 Paris Saint-Germain: Ben Yedder and Volland down leaders

Paris Saint-Germain lost their fourth straight away game in all competitions as they fell 3-0 to Monaco at Stade Louis II on Sunday.

Two goals from Wissam Ben Yedder and another from Kevin Volland were enough to seal victory for Philippe Clement s side in a game in which PSG were second best for large periods.

Mauricio Pochettino was without Lionel Messi (flu) and so started Georginio Wijnaldum on the right of the front three alongside Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

It was a deserved win for the Monegasques, who responded perfectly to going out of the Europa League on Thursday, while PSG remain 15 points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table.

The hosts made a strong start, and took a deserved lead on 25 minutes when Youssouf Fofana s low cross from the right …

Manchester United 3-0 Bournemouth: Casemiro, Shaw and Rashford on target in routine win

Manchester United strengthened their grip on a spot in the Premier League s top four as Marcus Rashford continued his fine run in a 3-0 win over Bournemouth.

Having scored the winner from the bench at Wolves on Saturday, Rashford returned to the starting line-up at Old Trafford and capped a dominant United performance with a late tap-in.

United had earlier taken the lead when Casemiro hammered Christian Eriksen s excellent left-wing free-kick home before Luke Shaw doubled their advantage with a neat finish.

Victory moved Erik ten Hag s side five points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham and level with Newcastle United, who drew against leaders Arsenal.

Prediction: Israel vs Italy

Prediction: Italy to win 2-0

Best Odds:

Bookmaker:

Israel and Italy will lock horns with each other in UEFA Nations League League A Group 2 next week. The match between Ran Ben Shimon’s side and Luciano Spalletti’s team will be held at the Bozsik Arena in Budapest, Hungary.

Israel

Israel are not a major force in European football and are not expected to qualify for major international competitions. The Chosen Team qualified for the World Cup finals back in 1970 and have never played in the UEFA European Championship.

The Chosen Team have been doing well in the UEFA Nations League, though. In the 2018-19 campaign, Israel finished second in  League C Group 1 before ending up second in League B Group 2 in 2020-21. They topped League B Group …

Easy in the end for Manchester City – same again next season?

Arsenal spent 248 days at the top of the Premier League this season, yet there was never really a time when it felt like Manchester City were not the favourites to lift the trophy.

Pep Guardiola’s side claimed the crown for a third year in a row and the fifth in the last six years, once again putting together one of those relentless winning runs that gives an air of inevitability to their eventual success.

City have been in plenty of tight title races over the years. Twice they have pipped Liverpool by a single point, one of those occasions coming last year when Ilkay Gundogan’s late goals to come from behind against Aston Villa brought back memories of Sergio Aguero, QPR, and all that in 2012.

The winning moment!

Inter Milan take control of Champions League semi-final with AC Milan

Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored as Inter Milan took charge of their Champions League semi-final against AC Milan with a 2-0 first-leg win at San Siro.

Inter blitzed their city rivals with two goals in the first 11 minutes and could easily have put the tie to bed after a dominant first-half display.

Milan improved after the break but will be grateful to still be in reach of the 2010 champions after a disappointing performance in front of their supporters.

The fierce rivals had not met in the Champions League since a quarter-final clash in 2005, which was abandoned after 73 minutes of the second leg when a section of Inter fans hurled flares on to the pitch – one of which struck and injured Milan goalkeeper Dida.

Bale on the bench for Real Madrid after helping Wales reach Euro 2020

Gareth Bale could make his first LaLiga appearance since October 5 after he was named on a star-studded Real Madrid bench for the home game against Real Sociedad.

Forward Bale has not featured for his club since the 4-2 win over Granada at the start of last month, though he has played four times for Wales since that outing.

The 30-year-old was on international duty during the week, helping Ryan Giggs squad secure a place at Euro 2020 with a 2-0 win over Hungary. He celebrated after the final whistle, dancing and singing with a banner that read:  WALES. GOLF. MADRID…IN THAT ORDER

The slogan originates from a chant by Wales supporters that pokes fun at perceptions of Bale among the Spanish media, who have accused the former Tottenham player of pushing Madrid …

Messi the greatest of all time? I have no doubt – Scaloni

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni has no doubt Lionel Messi is the greatest player of all time after inspiring La Albiceleste s progression to the World Cup final.

Messi was in irresistible form on Tuesday at Lusail Stadium, playing a key role in all three goals as Argentina beat Croatia 3-0 in Qatar 2022 s first semi-final.

He opened the scoring from the spot in the first half after Julian Alvarez was fouled by Dominik Livakovic and then released his strike partner in the build-up to him making it 2-0.

But the best was yet to come.

With 21 minutes to go, Messi embarked on a tremendous run up the right flank as he darted past Josko Gvardiol before then beating the defender again on the outside and eventually cutting back to Alvarez for a simple finish.

Liam Rosenior not getting carried away after Hull’s victory at Stoke

Liam Rosenior said he “won’t get carried away” after Hull returned to the play-off fray with a 3-1 win at Stoke.

First-half goals from Aaron Connolly – his fifth of the season – and Adama Traore handed the Tigers control just after the half-hour mark.

And the hosts’ miserable afternoon was compounded when Regan Slater’s strike deflected off Lynden Gooch and looped into his own net.

The returning Andre Vidigal notched a Potters consolation late on, but it was too little, too late as their winless run stretched to five league games.

Hull coasted to a seventh game unbeaten as they clinched a third successive away win in the Championship for the first time since 2013.

“I’m really happy,” said Rosenior, who marked the 50th game of h…

Freiburg 0-2 Juventus (0-3 agg): Vlahovic and Chiesa on target as Bianconeri reach quarter-finals

Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa scored as Juventus saw off 10-man Freiburg to reach the Europa League quarter-finals, winning 2-0 in Germany to claim a 3-0 aggregate triumph.

Having established a slender lead in the Turin first leg, Juventus saw a Vlahovic effort disallowed for offside in Thursday s rematch before Manuel Gulde was dismissed for blocking a shot with an outstretched arm.

Vlahovic stepped up to convert the subsequent 45th-minute penalty and ease any Juventus nerves, before Chiesa came off the bench to add gloss to the scoreline late on.

Juventus were ultimately comfortable as they booked a place in Friday s last-eight draw, keeping hopes alive of European silverware – and qualification for next season s Champions League.

HOW AWESOME IS …
